I’ve just received this via Helen at Cycle Carlisle. These guys are working hard to get things in the City of Carlisle in better shape for those of us in the cycling community. The councils involved have gone a fair way towards the goal of a cycle friendly city, but they didn’t get there without some significant nudging from the guys and girls at CC. I’ll let Helen fill you in with the details of the big event on Saturday 23rd of June.

Hiya
Our Mass Ride and Celebration of all things cycling in the town centre on Saturday 23 June is coming together. We’ve got bike safety checks prior to the event, activities for children and hopefully some stunt bikes to watch at the skate park. The ride itself sets off from Devonshire Walk carpark at 12.30pm. We are then planning to have information, bike security marking, more bike safety checks and displays of all things cycling in the town centre from 1.15 – 4pm. If you have not been asked but have some bicycle activity or group you would like to publicise here please let me know as the more varied bike activities we have – the better.
You can find out more about the event at www.bikeweek.org.uk/carlisle_massride
I attach a poster and a flier for the event. Please would you encourage anyone you know who rides a bike in and around Carlisle, or further afield, to come along. Our aim is to get as many different people on bicycles cycling round Carlisle, to raise awareness that the bicycle is for all! The best publicity we can have is word of mouth, so please, please, spread the word.
If you haven’t got access to a printer to print off posters but can put some up for us please let me know. I have printed off 50 posters and can get more done if necessary.
We are also going to get some fliers printed for distribution around relevant spots and for handing out to people on bicycles and leaving on bikes in the town centre. If you want any of these, again please let me know and we can get some to you.
Very much hope to see you there!
Best wishes
Helen
Now I know there are a lot of bikers in Stanwix, Etterby and the other bits of North Carlisle, so lets see if we can help the day to being a massive success. Comment your support below.
All the best and safe cycling or barmy biking – as you choose 😉
